Health Tips

I am not a doctor. I just went on a healing journey myself. Out of necessity I collected all this knowledge about healthy living. And I know you don't have much time or energy when you fall seriously sick. So I thought I just share this with you. Just in case it happens to you. So you have it available. Actually the best is to start without any threatening diagnosis. Just start living healthy because you understand, because you want to have a radiant energy, because you want to have all your energy available for a creative and fulfilling life. This is what I have learnt about healing. It's a work in progress. I am rewriting, editing, adding to it. I'm still learning about the miracles of the body and mind, about this inherent energy inside of us that can heal. Every healing journey is different, every body, every mind is different. Take what feels good to you, start experimenting for yourself. Create your own journey of healing and understanding. Write your own book.

MEDITATION

Leave your mind, come into the moment, go inside and be. Take some time each day. Find a meditation technique that makes you feel at peace, happy, tranquil. Sitting silently watching your breath, moving slowly watching your feet touch the ground, running and feeling your energy moving inside, looking at the sky and becoming one with it's vastness and beauty, dancing wildly and completely disappearing into the dance…. There are a million and one possible meditation techniques. Find a master, find a meditation group, get a book and try it out by yourself or invent your own technique.
Whatever feels right. Just take time to explore and transcend yourself.Enter this space where there are no worries, no time, no death, just the gap, the void and bliss from all sides. Check out books, tapes, videos and meditation techniques from Osho. He is my master of 18 years. For Osho's books you can call the OshoViha Information Center in Mill Valley (415) 472 5381 or check out their website www.oshoviha.org. For a tour of the Ashram in Poona, India, check www.Osho.com

MIND CONTROL

Your body follows your mind. Negative thoughts, feelings and words create disease. Watch what you create with your mind. Watch your speech, your unconscious is listening, too. Get some help through hypnosis or NLP. Your mind is the most powerful machine. Learn how to reprogram your mind that's all you need to get healthy. You can book a session with me or check out Chris Howard and go to his Breakthrough to success seminar (call 888 877 8550 or go to www.powerofinfluence.com)

EXERCISE AND BODYWORK

Get your heart pumping, your energy flowing, get into the flow of life. Buy a trampoline and jump on it for 15 minutes every day to get your lymph moving. Go for a morning run, go for an evening run. Be sure you are breathing ecstatically for at least 20 minutes every day. Breathing not only gives you oxygen it also connects you with the universe and with deeper layers of yourself.

Stretch out your body daily. Do it slowly, till your muscles and tendons relax. If you don't know how to do it, take some Yoga classes. Don't stress yourself. Don't forget to rest.

Use acupuncture, Shiatsu, Massage, Rolfing to open your meridian system. For acupuncture I recommend Drs. Mikio and Cathy Senkey (310 673 8225) in Inglewood. They are both fantastic and have helped me a lot through difficult times. For Shiatsu, Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage you can call me.

Join a gym and work out at least twice a week. Have a sauna once a week or every day. It should be a dry sauna, better even an infrared sauna. Sweating your bodies detoxes through the skin, so your kidneys get a rest.

When taking a shower always end with a cold shower. Cold showers get the body more alkaline. Alternate between hot and cold water several times. Dry brush your body with a natural brush or sponge before showers. Always brush towards your heart. This moves the lymph. Take a clay bath. This pulls the toxins out of the body.

Get out of town, hike and breath. Going out into nature remember you're a part of it. Let yourself be nourished by nature. Open your heart and join in the celebration of life. Get sun every day for at least 30 minutes. Have more sex. Have more fun.

NUTRITION

What you do and eat on a daily basis has a huge impact on your system. An important step towards better health is getting your body more alkaline! Your cells need an alkaline surrounding in order to function properly.

FOODS TO AVOID/FOODS TO EAT

Sugar

Avoid white, processed sugar, sugar, sugar…sugar makes you sick, it disturbs the natural balance in the body and makes you crave more and more unhealthy foods. Your body uses a lot of minerals and vitamins to somehow deal with it. It pulls out the calcium from your bones. It is responsible for your colds and flues. It 's a constant strain on the body. Eat fresh delicious fruits instead. If this is not enough, use maple syrup or raw honey. But make sure they are organic, natural and not heated, otherwise they become similar to sugar.

Dairy

Avoid dairy products and milk, because they create mucus and are responsible for colds, coughs and sinus problems. Also dairy products are a good way to put on too much weight. If you feel you need milk, drink unpasteurized, organic raw milk. Goat milk would be better than cow's milk. Pasteurized products are indigestible for your body. Regular butter can be replaced by raw organic butter (Whole Foods) or by Ghee (purified butter from India). Yoghurt and Kefir seem to be fine for most people, since they are fermented and provide the body with valuable bacteria.

Oils

Avoid fried foods. When oils are heated up they can damage your liver and make holes in your cell walls. Avoid all margarines, hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated vegetable oils, shortening oils, they are veritable liver foes. Instead put some cold pressed olive oil on your food when it's ready. Use essential fatty acids (EFA), these are good oils. Your liver needs them to function well. Use EFA Oils even when you want to lose weight. Your body needs oils. They actually help you to lose weight. They are vital for your liver and enable the cell membrane to eliminate toxins. They also keep your cell barriers strong and improve the efficiency of your immune system. Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils are EFA oils. Omega 6 essential oils you find in sesame, safflower, sunflower, raw nuts, evening primrose oil, leafy greens, spirulina, soybeans, lecithin. Omega 3 essential oils you get from fish, pumpkinseeds, linseed oil, cod liver oil, leafy greens, walnuts, wheat germ, and sea vegetables. Avoid non-organic foods, you don't want to put pesticides in your body, do you?

Caffeine

Avoid coffeine (coffee, black tea). Coffeine creates too much acid, instead drink Eden Kukicha Twig Tea, organic roasted Green Tea or just have a rest when your body feels tired!

Sea vegetables

Sea vegetables are highly recommended. They have lots of minerals and help you get your body alkaline:
Wakame and Kombu are themost alkaline foods I came across.

Fermented Foods

Sauerkraut, Kefir, Joghurt, Miso, Soy Sauce, Umeboshi Paste, Kombucha, and others are fermented foods. They need to be done in the traditional, time consuming way and not by simply adding vinegar. They provide the body with valuable bacteria. These bacteria are missing in our modern diets. Digestive and other bacteria get introduced into the body with your mother's milk. Antibiotics destroy them. Once you have taken antibiotics your digestive tract gets compromised. Then you need to take fermented foods, Probiotics, Acidophilis and other bacteria to bring back a healthy digestion. Antibiotics usually are the beginning of a downward health spiral. So avoid to take them, unless your life is in danger. Kefir, Kombuca and Sauerkraut are easy to make yourself. Lots of recipies are available on the internet.

Raw
foods

Fresh, raw vegetables have much more enzymes and nutrients then cooked ones. If you eat cooked foods add macrobiotic products like Miso, Umeboshi Paste, Soysauce. They provide the necessary difestive enzymes. Or you take enzymes in pill form with your meal.

If you feel good on a raw food diet, just go for it. Not every 'body' thrives with raw foods. Different body types need different diets. You need to experiment which diet gives you the most energy and the best overall mood. Find the right fuel for your engine.

Aryuveda has a comprehensive system around body types. My body, for instance, being a Pitta/Vatta does best with a mixed diet of cooked and raw foods. I need raw foods with every meal, but by themselves it just doesn't do it. Also your digestion changes with the climate, the season and so on. If it's hot I do much better with raw foods then when it's cold. It's that simple. So always listen to your own inner voice, watch what your body tells you and don't follow any system blindly. Listening to the messages of your body is part of the healing process.

Daily menu

Start with some freshly made juice (carrot, romaine lettuce, spinach, ginger, celery, green apple, red beets). Put in superfood, psyllium husk, bentonite, flax seed and add coral minerals. Later you may eat some cooked cereal: Steel Cut Oats or Amaranth alone or mixed taste delicious. All whole grains need to be soaked 6 - 8 hours. Then boil them for 5 to 10 minutes and let them stand for 10 to 15 more minutes and soak up the water. Have your cereal with some mashed banana and/or grated apple for taste. You can add some cinnamon, grated ginger and nuts.

Another break fast would be two slices of sourdough rye bread with miso, avocado, lettuce, sprouts, and may be a half cooked egg once in a while.

For lunch try brown rice mixed with wild rice or millet. Steam broccoli and cauliflower, but try to eat other vegetables raw. You can grate them or cut them finely. Heat the rice together with some sea vegetables, add mushrooms and herbs for taste. Put in a bowl. Separately prepare a mixture of Miso and olive oil and put on your rice. Then either mix in your raw veggies or prepare them with olive oil, soy sauce and lemon or raw apple cider vinegar.

Always have lots of greens with your food. Try eating raw or fermented cabbage. Add some home made sprouts (beans, lentils, alfalfa). They are easy to make in a glass that you cover with cheesecloth and rinse with filtered water three times a day or buy a sprouter. Add sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds to your meal. Buy them raw and dry roast them yourself. Add some raw grated garlic. Fresh vegetables have much more enzymes and nutrients then cooked ones. Eat raw if you can. Otherwise steam very shortly or learn macrobiotic cooking.

Add fermented foods like miso or umeboshi for enzymes. Or you take enzymes in pill form with the meal. If you're over 40 years you might also take betaine HCl (hydrochloric acid from red beets) before meals, because you might not have enough stomach acid to digest foods fully. Of course eating slowly and munching the food carefully helps digestion, too.

If you have cancer or candida or parasites be easy on fruits. They may contain too much sugar.

Pineapples, papaya and red beets are rich in enzymes. You can eatpineapple with your meals for a better digestion. Except for apples and pineapples it is better to eat fruit separately from your meal.

Your main food intake should be between 12 noon and 4 p.m. At this time you can digest foods the best. So have a light evening meal. Best consume your last meal before 6 p.m.

Millet is also a great cereal you should try. It's alkaline forming and has lots of good properties. For dinner (or at any other time of the day) make yourself a MISO SOUP. In a soup pot cut up a piece of lotus root, a piece of burdock root, 2 pieces of wakame or kombu seavegetable, one shitake or maitake mushroom, add water and let simmer till it get's soft. Pull out the seaweed and cut it into small pieces and put it back in. Add vegetables like kale or broccoli, fill up with water till everything is covered and simmer till the veggies are soft. Don't add any salt. Take a cup and put a spoon of miso, then add a small amount of soup and mix it. Add a bit of olive oil. Then fill your cup with your miso soup. You can eat it by itself or with brown rice. Enjoy!

Another good dinner option is a fresh, raw, mostly green SALAD: Mix fresh Romane Lettuce, Dandelion Greens, Arigula, Endives or Belgium Endives, add grated carrots or fresh beets and sprouted sunflower seeds. Dressing 1: olive oil, lemmon, soy sauce
Dressing 2: mashed avocado, miso, umeboshi, lemmon
Dressing 3: tahini stirred with lemmon and soy sauce

optional: exchange apple cider vinegar for the lemmon
optional: add ground coriander and origano, maybe very little cumin
optional: add yoghurt to any of the dressingsOn top of the salad sprinkle either roasted Sunflower Seeds or roasted Pumpkin Seeds or Greek Feta Cheese. Also add a few pieces of ready-to-eat Wakame or Dulse.

Don't overeat. Your system needs time to digest effectively.

Water
Drink more water. Don't drink tap water. Get the best water machine you can afford. Drink plenty of water in between meals. Don't drink during meals, because you don't want to dilude your digestive juices. But your kidneys need water. You can eat more juicy fruits and vegetables and you might not need that much water.
Juicing
Fresh juices are a great source of nutrients for the body. They cleanse and nourish the body. They help for a good elimination. You get much more nutrients because you cannot eat that much of vegetables as you can drink their juice. Get a juicer and make fresh juices of carrots and celery. Or try carrot, celery and lettuce. Or carrot, celery, kale, parsley, spinach, some red beets, apple and ginger . You can add salt, cumin, ground cloves for taste. Cleansing Juice Mix
Take a big piece of ginger root and one green apple (sliced as needed) and juice them together. Just add some water and drink. If that's too strong for you add some raw honey to the mix (stirr or shake well). Ginger has been found to kill ovarian cancer cells and has a host of beneficial properties. Variation: add this mix to a fresh juiced orange and lemmon water. Very delicious as a summer cleansing drink for your lymph system.

Organic
Eat organic food! You don't want to eat pesticides, hormones, artificially modified foods. You just want to eat plain, healthy organically grown foods. They taste better and you get much more vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. I can understand that people didn't want to work so much any more and therefore invented pesticides. But laziness and greed don't pay off in the long run. Food should be grown with love and dedication, best is if you can do it yourself. Second best go to the farmers' market and look for organic food. You can get foods there more fresh than in stores. Otherwise try organic co-ops, organic delivery services or Whole Foods, Wild Oats, etc.
Bowel movement
Make sure your bowels are moving properly. Usually they don't. You need eliminate at least once a day fully. Better two or three times a day. It is normal for the body to evacuate in the early morning and about half an hour after every good meal. Give your body the time and relaxation it needs to do that.. How can you improve your bowel movement? Eat lots of fresh vegetables. Keep your body alkaline. Make a mixture of two to three teaspoons psyllium husk, a quarter teaspoon bentonite and half a teaspoon of ground flax seeds. Drink mixed with a full glass of water before breakfast. Maybe before dinner, too, if needed. Drink enough water. This mixture pulls out a lot of toxins and water, so you need to drink more.
Get a session of colonics, to cleanse out old stuff. Maybe you need one every week. Or you want to start your journey towards better health with a week of colonics and juicing. You can go to an institute or set up your home colonics (see below). Or you can start taking coffee enemas in the morning. Use the trampoline. It's very effective for bowel movement, too. Move and breathe at least 30 minutes every day. I also recommend Dr. Schulzes bowel cleansing program (: 1-800-herbdoc). It's a great program Make sure to get rid of old feces when you start your detox program. You don't want to keep toxins in your colon!

Home colonics

Get a 4 gallon container, fix it about 4 feet above your toilet. Get a 8 feet surgical latex tubing. Insert one end into the container. On the other end the tube needs a clamp to control the water flowing out and you need to attach an enema tip or catheter to it. You attach the enema tip after you have filled the tube with water and clamped it. To the water you add coffee. Add 2 tablespoons of gound fresh organic coffee to 1 pint of water. Bring to a boil and let it stand for 10 minutes. Pour about 16 litres/4 gallons of water into the container, add the coffee filtering off the grind using a sieve. The water temperature should be body temperature or less, but not too cold. Lubricate the tip of the tube and anus with coconut or palm oil.

Sit comfortably on the toilet and insert the tip into the rectum. Leave the tip inside whilst flushing. This is more comfortable and saves you from having to reinsert the tip each time. Controlling the clamp, allow water to flow into the colon until you feel ready to release.

Clamp the tube. Flush your bowels until empty and begin again. Repeat this until all the water in the container is empty. Some people manage to hold up to a liter of water in the colon. It is never necessary to fill the colon so that you feel uncomfortable. It is good practice to massage the colon in a clockwise direction, starting on the lower right side above the abdomen, moving up and across, down your left side and to the right again. Or you can gently push your fingers into the colon area as if you are kneading dough. During your week of colonics, drink your mixture of psyllium husk, bentonite and ground flaxseed mornings and evenings. During the day drink freshly made vegetable and fruit juices and herb teas. For best results combine it with Dr. Schulzes Liver and Gallbladder Flush. This has worked perfectly for me.

Liver and Gallbladder Flush
Chronic disease always takes a tall on the liver. Usually the liver is sluggish and gallbladder channels are clogged up. There are many different recipies available. I like Dr. Schulze's flush, because you build it up gradually and don't shock the liver too much. You can check out his pharmacy in Marina del Rey, at 4143 Glencoe Ave., phone: 1-800-herbdoc and get his Liver/Gallbladder tincture and tea and the detox tincture. There you can also get a free book where he talks a lot about eating raw foods, juice fasting and how to do the liver flush. Here is how you do it: Buy lots of green apples and start eating or juicing them. The next morning put one green apple, 1 galic glove, a piece of ginger, a tablespoon of organic olive oil and a glass of water in the blender. Drink this first thing in the morning. During the day keep eating green apples, raw vegetables and vegetable juice. The next days increase the garlic and the olive oil to two, then three, four and up to five on the fifth day. Before and during your cleanse you can supplement with the Nanostonebreak from Nutrient Research (www.healthline.cc, 310 320 1132) This will hopefully push out some Gallbladder stones and help the liver work more efficient. Most effective if you combine it with Colonics.

Supplements and Herbs
The following supplements will give your body the energy he needs to get healthier and fight disease: Chlorella, Spirulina, wakame, kombu and other algae, oat grass, barley grass, wheat grass, whey protein, yeast flakes. Dr. Schulze's 'Superfood' is providing most of these ingredients. I take 2 teaspoons of Superfood mornings and evenings
Anti-infective
Anti-Cancer Herbs
Coriolus, Maitake, Reishi, Tumeric, Sutherlandia, Echineacea, Pau d'arco, Cats Claw, Hyssop, Olive Leaf, Mistle Toe and all Anti-Parasite Herbs. Chose a few, increase the dosage till you notice some reaction. Drink Red Clover tea for cleansing the blood.
Anti-Parasite Herbs
Clove, Tansy, Quassia Chips, Pumpkinseeds, Turkey Rhubarb, Senna leaf, Black Walnut Hulls, Ragweed, Artemsia (very strong). In all degenerative disease parasites play an important role. So part of the cure is an intense parasite cleanse. Other indications for parasites are bloating, tiredness after meals, ferocious appetite, cravings, moodiness. You get parasites from raw veggies, raw fish, raw meats, pets, dirty hands…but only if you're immune system is down. Since this is the case for all of us once in a while (stress, colds…) it is advisable to do a cleanse twice a year. Call me if you want to have more detailed instructions for a parasite cleanse.
Enzymes
Protease, which is a pancreatic enzymes, breaks tumor walls, thus helps your immune system to eliminate tumors. Amalyse, Cellulase for a better digestion. You can get good digestive enzymes from 'Solary' or Metagenics (SpectraZyme)
Chelating herbs
Coriander, Cilantro, Chlorella. These herbs pull out toxins and heavy metals from your body.

WHAT YOUR LIVER LIKES

The Liver is the General of the body. Once your liver feels all right again, your body can battle any disease. Dandelion root, cleanses the blood Milk Thistle, regenerates the liver Hyssop, energizes and cleanses Licorice Root, anti viral Cat's claw, reverses disease Reishi Mushrooms, very powerful Take these herbs in all forms: tinctures, tablets, teas. Teas are most effective when bought organic. For instance get Milk Thistle seeds, add half a cup to 2 quarts of water, bring to boil and simmer for 1 hour. Pour through a strainer into a container. Add water to seeds and pour again through strainer. Keep in refrigerator

WHAT YOUR KIDNEYS LIKE

Drink more water! The best water is distilled water. Drink in between meals. Your kidneys need water for their functioning. Watermelons, dandelion tea, agaricus mushroom are very good kidney foods. Make a fresh juice of carrot, spinach, celery, cucumber and grapes and drink it with dandelion tea. Saunas are very efficient, because you sweat out through your skin, so your kidneys don't need to work so hard. Mud baths are excellent, too, they pull out the toxins through the skin. Dr. Schulzes Kidney tea and Kidney detox formula are great.
Softly tap with your fists on the lower back/kidney area while breathing out. Then breathe in and raise your arms. Repeat two times. Stretch out your lower back and the back of your legs (bending down). Rub your hands together till they are warm and charged with energy and then put your palms on the kidneys and let the energy stream from your hands into the kidneys.
When you take a shower, always end with a cold shower. Take a cold shower or a cold, short sitzbath before you go to bed. Go out into nature and breathe fresh air and get sun on your skin. Dry brush your skin in the morning before taking a shower. Take a natural body brush and brush towards the heart. Do some work out every day. Keep it easy. But be sure yoursweat a little every day. Learn to stretch out your body. Tight muscles in the back can constrain the kidneys. Be sure that your lower back gets more relaxed. Massage is good, too. Acupuncture and Shiatsu are usually very efficient in supporting the kidney energy. If you want to get regular sessions you can negotiate the price quite effectively. You can also get low prices when you go to Shiatsu or Acupuncture schools (Emperor's College) and get student sessions. An overall healthy diet with lots of fresh organic lettuces and vegetables, no animal protein, no coffee, no alcohol is helping your kidneys to work less.

RIFE TECHNOLOGY

Some people heal themselves using a Rife machine. I have one. My husband buildt one for me. A Rife maschine creates and sends electromagnetic frequences through a plasma tube that match the frequency of viruses, bacteria or cancer cells and explodes them. You sit or lie down and hold the tube. You choose the frequencies according to your disease. When a frequency matches the disease in your body, you will feel tired, because now your immune system is working hard to finish the virus or bacteria. Otherwise the Rife process actually gives an energy boost to the body. We looked at our blood before and after using the Rife machine. The blood cells were going much faster than before, less clumping together and were shaped more round.

ENVIRONMENTAL DANGERS

Dentists are dangerous people. You can avoid them. Just stop eating sugar. That's the best.
If you're already in trouble with your teeth, here is what you can do:
Don't get routine x-rays. Radiation is dangerous for your cells.
Don't get amalgam fillings. They are toxic
Have your amalgam fillings removed
Take chelating herbs to pull the toxins out of your body Cook with stainless steel, pyrex or glassDon't use microwaves

Don't sleep in front of your TV.

Sunscreen? Yes or no?
Are you using Sunscreen? I am not and I love going out into into nature. My body is used to sun and needs quite a bit of it to feel healthy. If you feel you need sun protection, choose non-petroleum based ones. The skin assimilates whatever you put on it and petroleum products are not what you want to have in your system.
But there are alternatives, so called physical sunscreens made with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which are naturally occurring metal particles found in sand and rocks that block UV radiation by creating a reflective shield.

WHERE TO START

After reading my Health Tips one of my friends from Berlin got worried. He was quite surprised when he came to stay with me for a week. It was still the food he loved to eat. With a few changes, additiones and different procedures of course. But it tasted good. And that's the main thing. Enjoying life, enjoying good food is part of the healing process for body and soul. So where do you start on your journey towards a more healthy life style.

First of all quit eating refined, white sugar. This is one of the best things you can do for your body. It will give you a lot more energy, so you will also be able to drop coffee, you will just not need it anymore. Actually sugar is a poor substitute for the real thing: fresh, juicy fruits. We have such an abundance of great tasting fruits here in california. It's so easy. So start off your day with your favorite fruits. I like to eat a mashed banana and a grated appel with my whole grain musli. I soak whole oats, amaranth and quinoa in the evening and just warm it up in the morning. Then I mix it with the fruits, ground flax seed, little bit of essential omega spread or just olive oil, cinnemon, grated ginger and some raw nuts. Other fruits are better to eat in between meals. You don't want to eat fruits right after a meal. Fruits are good as a seperate snack. Apples and pineapples are an exception to this rule. You can mix them with your meal. You may also want to start baking your own desserts. Actually you can use any regular recipy, just replace the sugar by a mashed banana or grated carrots. The recipies above may give you some ideas. As you can see I also replace wheat flour with barley flour. It works just the same and taste declicious. I also love amaranth flour. Wheat has great properties, but our society is just using wheat everywhere, as if there where no other grains around. That's why many people are allergic to wheat. Also the bad bacteria in your intestines are meanwhile specialized in wheat. So that's my third suggestion replace wheat with other grains.

Many health conditions like bloating, congested sinuses and frequent colds may be caused by an overconsumption of dairy products. Generally speaking your body doesn't need dairy products at all. So if you can quit dairy all together, good. If not switch to organic raw milk and raw milk products. They are easier to digest. If you like to replace dairy you can drink organic rice milk instead of milk and eat spectrum essential omega spread or ghee (purified butter) instead of butter. Ghee is also good for baking.

And last, but not least: Eat organic! You don't want to put pesticides into your system. You want to have all the nutrients that you can get from a healthy organic vegetable or fruit. Only organic food gives your body the necessary nutrients to survive in this challenging world we live in. One very pleasant side effect of eating healthy, organic food is: you come back to your optimum weight. When your body gets what it needs, the cravings stop and you have more energy available to do what you want with your life. .And you just stop eating too much, because your body gets waht it needs. Instead you feel more like working out, going for a run in the morning and enjoying your favorite sports. It's fun to live in a healthy body.

DO WHATEVER FEELS RIGHT TO YOU! EVERY BODY IS DIFFERENT.

LISTEN TO YOUR OWN INNER VOICE!
